Our Community

Star of the West Milling Company is actively involved in building great communities where we live and work. Our company and our employees give time, talent, products and financial support to support organizations that help our communities thrive. Some examples include helping establish the Miracle of Life barn at the Huron County Fair and volunteering at Project RED (Rural Education Development) each year in various counties.

In 2022 we donated over 2,000 pounds of flour to Hidden Harvest which supplies food banks in Michigan. Star of the West employees also serve on school, church and other community boards. Along with that, employees donate time to activities including Michigan State University classroom speaking engagements and student ride alongs.

Multiple class trips have also been hosted in the Frankenmuth Training Room, where students of all ages learn about the life cycle of wheat along with milling. The biggest community outreach project is the Goats on the Riverbank each year in Frankenmuth. Community members come to experience the goats and were also able to pet goats brought in from a local 4-H club.
